Why Pay More?
Taking Your Permit to Carry Course Shouldn’t Break the Bank. How much should a Minnesota Permit to Carry course cost? The truth is, getting a permit to carry a firearm in Minnesota can be very expensive, and for some folks it can be too expensive, so they go unprotected.

Unlike several other states that only require that citizens be “law abiding” in order to carry a firearm, Minnesota requires that potential applicants attend a “Minnesota Permit to Carry a Firearm” course, conducted by an organization certified by the BCA. The cost for that course is left up to the individual training organization. One organization charges as much as $200 or more. At Plane Cents, LLC we believe that it’s your right to obtain a permit to carry a firearm, and that you shouldn’t be “priced out” of that right.

So what exactly do you get for $75 from PCSD? You’ll be taught all of the key things that will help keep you out of trouble in Minnesota, including the three key things that the state requires us to teach, including: Instruction in the fundamentals of pistol use; Instruction in the legal aspects of firearm possession, carry and use, including the rules governing the use of deadly force; and an actual shooting qualification. In addition to those topics, we’ll also provide you with the appropriate instruction and certificate that you’ll need if you’d like to apply for your Utah permit, you may also apply for Florida and Newhampshire which when combined with your Minnesota permit, will allow you to carry in 31 or more states. We do not make you meet at a motel for your class. We meet at sportsman's clubs, conference rooms and sometimes even my house. Oh I forgot Goose Lake Auto Parts -- you may think, a salvage yard? Well you have to see the lodge we meet in that belongs to the owners to believe it. If you can make one of these classes at Goose Lake, you will not regret it.

So what extra things are you taught by a training organization that charges $125 more than PCSD? Guess what? You get taught EXACTLY THE SAME THINGS. They won’t teach you about a secret 5th rule governing the use of deadly force that only they know about (here’s a hint, there isn’t one), and you won’t be taught about a 5th universal safety rule that they invented that’s worth the extra $125 just to hear about it.

One thing you’ll notice about our web site is that we like having a dialogue with our prospective and past students, including filling you in on our thoughts, and what we’ve been up to lately. We might not look as fancy as eBay, but then again, we’re not trying to sell you a Mercedes, or a piece of toast that has the image of Jesus on it. We’re just trying to provide a good product at a price that doesn’t break the bank. We might even occasionally miss the spell checker as we keep our website up to date (for example, we recently listed a class in “Boomington” instead of “Bloomington”, but we thought that one was actually kind of funny). Then again, if a misspelled word here or there really bothers you, we can direct you to an organization who will provide pretty good spelling and grammar for a mere $125 extra. It’s your choice, but we’re betting that the extra $125 would buy a lot of practice ammunition.

So you know by now that I'm a firearms instructor (to that end, I've had more than 200 hours of formal firearms training, and am Minnesota Board of "Peace Officer Standards and Training" (POST) Certified Range Qualifier), but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Ammo shortage

Due to the shortage of ammo if you cannot find ammo for the shooting portion of the class, I have several .22LR semi auto pistols for you to use to qualify with. We also have a huge supply of .22LR ammo for sale at the classes! Don't let the ammo shortage stop you from choosing PCSD as your trainer. We still encourage you to use the gun you will carry but offer this as a last resort so you can get your permit. You can also use a .22LR semi auto for the skill builder class after the permit class.

These classes are for individuals who have a fair amount of hand gun time you do not have to be a super shooter but we will be doing exercises that involve moving while shooting, drawing from the holster and such. You need to be comfortable with hand guns first. We do allow you to use .22LR handguns to save on ammo cost as the skills you will learn are developmental skills that will transition to your carry gun as well. I have several semi auto's in .22LR including 4 Glocks converted to .22LR with Advantage Arms conversions, that you can use. Choosing the right gun to carry is an important decision. Women especially need to try out a variety of guns for carry. Marcia carried 4 guns before she found one that she really likes and is comfortable with. We have a variety of guns for you to try to help you choose your carry handgun. Bring 50 rounds of ammo, ear and eye protection, and the gun use is free! Due to our current inability to obtain ammunition, we can no longer offer ammunition for sale at our class. If you are unable to obtain ammunition for the gun you would like to try or for your own gun, just bring some .22LR ammunition and you can use one of our .22's for the qualification.

Plane Cents is now offering Defensive Hand Gun Training. This small group (as little as two) will expose you to what you could see in the real world of self defense and help you prepare. This is a real eye opener and will show you how to practice to for the un-thinkable! A great couple or family experience. 6-8 hours on the range 200+ rounds shot. Others are charging $125 to $175 for both if they even can teach Utah at all. That's one reason why I am so busy. Nobody charges less for both.

Free Utah! What is Utah? Along with Minnesota, it is a multi-state permit. This is the closest you can get to a national carry permit! Carry in 31 states with our permit options. Get the most states for the least amount of money with us. Bring a friend for free. If at the end of the class they do not want the permit, they do not pay!

Why Choose Us?

No one has both Utah and Minnesota for less than $75. I do this as a passion to promote the Second Amendment, not to make the most money I can! I have had students tell me that when talking to other instructors about why they should take their course instead of mine, price almost always comes up (because I am cheaper). A frequent comment from other instructors is, "You get what you pay for." They are right, you can pay more, but is what you get worth the extra money? You can buy the same exact lotion at Walmart for less. I know what they are implying is that you get less from me.
